The Kheerganga Trek, nestled at an altitude of 9,700 feet deep within the Parvati Valley, is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most captivating trekking destinations, offering breathtaking views and serene landscapes. This nature-lover’s paradise is the perfect weekend escape from Delhi, starting with a scenic drive to Kasol. Known as the “Amsterdam of India,” Kasol is a bustling hamlet in Kullu, popular for its budget-friendly accommodations, eclectic cafés, and laid-back vibe.
Kasol – The Gateway to Kheerganga Upon reaching Kasol, unwind with riverside camping, explore local cafés, and stroll along the Parvati River. The next morning, the Kheerganga trek begins. This trail from Kasol to Kheerganga spans approximately 12 kilometers, making it ideal for novice trekkers. The route ascends gently, with only a few challenging patches, allowing beginners to enjoy the thrill of mountain trekking without strenuous inclines.
The Trekking Experience: The Kheerganga trail immerses you in lush forests, meadows, and flowing waterfalls, offering ample spots to rest, enjoy views, and soak in the natural beauty. Highlights along the trek include Rudranag Waterfall, a majestic cascade surrounded by snow-capped peaks and dense forests, and the Rudranag Temple, a revered site for pilgrims. The hot springs at Kheerganga are an unmissable experience, inviting trekkers to relax and rejuvenate in the warm waters—a delightful contrast to the chilly mountain air.
History and Spiritual Significance: Kheerganga holds deep mythological ties as the legendary abode of Lord Shiva.
